A Weekend Road Trip With My Friends

This past weekend was one for the books. My girlfriends and I took a trip to Greenville, Mississippi.

All three of us have been so focused on school, jobs and future jobs that we all deserved a much needed break. Our road trip started out in Nacogdoches, Texas and from there on we drove for hours through unknown land.

Of course not everyone was a awake for the ride but somehow through the five hour trip we had throwback jam sessions and girl chats.

From Nacogdoches we drove through Louisiana and on the way back stopped at a country store that had some of the BEST boudin balls and fried jalapenAs  that I’ve ever had in my life!!! (yes, I know I spelled jalapeno’s wrong.)

Leaving Louisiana we came to a crossroads between Louisiana and Arkansas and just had to take a memorable photo.

We crossed over to the land of Arkansas. (literally) We drove through nothing but an empty canvas of crops and greenery. Traveling through emptiness was actually relaxing. There were fields and I mean fields, of just nothing. Houses were secluded and distant and small towns were more than far away.

Finally, we made it to Mississippi! Immediately we saw the Mississippi River and were in awe of how huge it was! Almost every twenty miles that went by we saw a casino. When we arrived to Greenville , the town seemed like something straight out of a Lifetime Movie.

I have only seen such small towns like that on television, so small that sheriffs had to be elected and diners were a thing.

We had a quick stop at the most welcoming restaurant, Sherman’s. There I had the most DELICIOUS blackened burger! Just thinking about it makes me hungry.

Our weekend trip in Mississippi included exploring the city, a casino visit and a tamale festival.

Overall, the people of Greenville were so welcoming and friendly. They wanted visitors that came through to enjoy their stay. At the tamale festival we all really got a taste of the Greenville life. Seeing the community come out on the weekend and get a taste of different kinds of foods and live music was the highlight of my trip.

I must say, I am so thankful for my girls. They really know how to make the best out of every situation. They continued to laugh and smile through out the whole weekend and stay the upbeat positive great human beings that they are. Following the festival we headed back to Nacogdoches only to laugh and joke about the great weekend we just had together.
