#GOALS

Everywhere I turn, someone is getting married. The small town I live in, in North Dakota is filled with families. I have never seen so many mommies, daddies and sisters and brother in my life. It’s like I can’t escape it. All the time on social media someone new has just gotten engaged, pregnant or changed their Facebook status to “in a relationship.” All the time, I am surrounded by love, marriage and baby carriages.

In my twenties it has become more prevalent to make goals of getting married and settling down.

During my transition of getting married and having my own family, I have come to the realization that being engaged Is an overrated goal.

Goals every girl should have.

  1. GLow up

At this point in life it’s all about the glow up which results to growing up. Taking into consideration who you used to be into who you are becoming. In no way should you rush your life by, instead take the moments in life, every day and grow from it. At the end of the day when you reflect, how did you grow? How will you make the next day better from learning from your mistakes, taking in wisdom and building relationships? Grow into a better person that you were than the day before. Challenge yourself to be better every day and grow into the women you were intended to be.

  1. Get engaged

Yep you read that right! Get engaged, girl! But don’t get engaged to that man…yet. Get engaged to yourself to your life. Unplug from the social media sites that you visit 20 times a day and get engaged with the people around you. Get engaged with who you are. Get engaged with life overall. Plug into something that is going to provide you substance and benefit your well-being. I can admit that I am that girl, at dinner parties or hanging out with my girlfriends, the first one to pull out that good ole cell phone and check EVERYTHING. Instead of pouring into the wonderful things of my friends and family online, it’s good to pour into the people around me and get into the world around me.

  1. Listen more, talk less

I talk a lot. Like, I just like to. If you’ll listen, I’ll talk. If you’re interested, I’ll talk. But, there are also times that it’s not the time to talk. Sometimes I can miss something important or words of encouragement or wisdom because I’m talking. You can learn so much about others and yourself by just listening. It is a great trait that is often overlooked.

  1. Live

Lastly, live my friend. Live life like the best of them. Enjoy life like the rest of them. Get out of your comfort zone and grow up, engage yourself and listen more. Sometimes the best things in life come out of us getting out of what we are used to. Run away from being comfortable. You don’t have to party all the time, pass out under the influence or hurt others to feel alive. Amazingly, you can feel alive but giving back to your community. Volunteer, donate and spend some quality time with people who don’t get to spend time with you often. You’d be amazed with how many lives you can touch by making them feel alive because you are letting them you know you care.

What are some goal that you think every girl should have? Leave them down below.

Sincerely,

Chloe
